The Problem
Mobaz.mu needed a marketplace connecting buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants, replacing scattered listings across informal channels with structured search and enquiry management.
The Solution
A real estate marketplace was built with property listings, structured search and enquiry management, supporting multiple user roles across the transaction.
Approach
- Modelled listings, users and roles to support buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants distinctly
- Built structured search and filtering across property attributes and location
- Implemented enquiry management so listing owners can track and respond to leads
Features
Challenges
Supporting four distinct user roles on one marketplace meant permissions and workflows had to stay clearly separated without duplicating the platform.
Architecture
Built with Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase and PostgreSQL, with maps integration for location-based property discovery.
Current Outcome
The marketplace is live, connecting property buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants across Mauritius.
Future Improvements
Planned work includes saved searches and in-app messaging between parties.
Lessons Learned
Marketplace platforms need role separation designed early — retrofitting permissions later is far more disruptive.
